Join us on April 19, 2024, for an unforgettable evening of Irish set dancing with acclaimed Portland fiddler Betsy Branch.

An expert in captivating audiences and dancers alike, Betsy Branch is renowned across the Irish, English, and Contra dance communities and has also dazzled spectators with her performances at the Portland Revels. This much-anticipated event will be held at the Waverly United Church of Christ at 3300 SE Woodward St in Portland, starting from 6:30 pm.

The evening offers both newcomers and experienced dancers a chance to immerse themselves in the vibrant Irish set dancing scene, known for its similarities to American square dancing. All dances will be taught and called by Portland’s own Maldon Meehan.

Whether you are drawn to participate on the dance floor or just revel in the lively music, everyone is welcome to feel the beat of traditional Irish tunes and connect with the culture. The event’s $15 admission fee goes towards supporting the mission of CCE Oregon, from promoting set dancing to fostering an Irish speaking community and nurturing the learning and singing of traditional songs.

Participants are advised to bring a water bottle and towel and wear non-scuffing, slick, or leather-soled shoes to keep the dance floor pristine. Please remember that street shoes are not allowed. Be ready for a night of spirited dancing and pure enjoyment set to the infectious rhythms of live Irish music.

Come and experience the pulsating heart of Irish culture at the 3rd Friday Ceili Dance. Mark your calendars and step into a world of traditional revelry with CCE Oregon.
