Halfdoor & Barrel Dancing Exhibition

Step back in time with us at Kells Irish Restaurant for a unique celebration of halfdoor and barrel dancing—a tradition born from old Irish cottages where dirt floors were swapped for doors, barrels, or tables to make a suitable dancing surface. We’ll recreate that spirit right here in downtown Portland!

All dancers are welcome to take a turn on the half door or barrel—or enjoy Kells’ fabulous floor if that’s more your style. We’ll have live music, and if enough dancers are present, we’ll round out the afternoon with a half set or full set.

Whether you’re into sean-nós, old-style, step dancing, or any form of percussive footwork, come share your steps, trade a few, and join the dance conversation. It’s a rare treat to have so many dancers under one roof—don’t miss it! Spectators warmly welcome.
